This is Matt Rice with Tuesday’s market line report for September 8th. We’ve had quite a few ups and downs over the last 12 months in both the grain and livestock market. Let’s take a look at last year’s markets around this time and do a comparison.

Chicago September Wheat ended last week up 1 ¾, at 458 ¼. Last year around this time it was at 5-90. September corn ended the week down 3/4 at 348 1/2. Compared to corn at 4-34 last year. Portland prices for soft white wheat with 10.5 % protein for September, are hanging around the 6-39 mark and last year they were at 6-97 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for September are between 5-47 ¾ to 5-82 3/4. Compared to Hard Red Winter wheat last year at 7-90 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for September are around the 6-03 ¼ to 6-23 ¼ range. Compared to 8-36 and ¾ a year ago. October live cattle closed last week down $1.15, at 140.45. Live cattle were at 145-72 and half last year. Feeder cattle were down $1.45, at 195.87 1/2. Last year they were up some at 207-85. October class III milk was up 19 cents, at 16-22. Class III milk a year ago was at 21-79.
