Shepherds Information Day; Date change for rollover auction

Washington Ag Today December 1, 2011 Shepherds Information Day is set for Saturday December 10th at the Spokane County/WSU Extension Learning Center.

Tom Platt, Washington State University Extension Educator says the day offers something for all producers. The morning session begins with a presentation on a Year Around Flock Health Program. Then a presentation on Feeding the Breeding Flock

# and Feeding Commercial and Show Lambs.

After lunch is a panel discussion, Shepherd’s Best Tricks, a show and tell by local producers.

The program begins at 9:30 a.m. on December 10th and ends at 3:30 p.m.

The Beef Counts roll over auction that was to be held today at Toppenish Livestock Auction has been rescheduled to December 13th. The auction generates funds to Second Harvest to provide those in need with beef.

USDA’s Risk Management Agency says it is starting a pilot insurance program for camelina for 2012 but it will only be available in North Dakota and Montana.

Now this from Stockland Livestock.

This is Jack McQuinness at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. Had a nice sale here Monday. Report cows and bulls two to three and in some instances $4 higher. Feeder cattle steady to maybe a little bit stronger, especially on the heifer end. Don’t forget a big feeder sale here on the 5th and we will be back with a big stock cow and bred heifer sale on December 10th. We have a lot of good cows. Got a complete dispersion of some fall calving cows, 110 head, coming from down in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. That will all happen here at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. Thanks for listening.

Thanks Jack.
