10-7 IAN Otter Jobs Up

Is the job market in Idaho on the comeback trail? I’m David Sparks and we’ll let Governor Otter answer that in a minute. I recently had a very pleasant round of conversations with Governor Otter and one of my primary questions was: In Idaho, are jobs increasing? “C-3 in Twin Falls, 1200 jobs by the 1st of the year. The 100 new jobs that were just announced in Northern Idaho with Horizon Air deciding to outsource to Empire Airlines, all of their heavy maintenance. More and more things are happening like that all the time. We have had a flood of inquiries into the State of Idaho about companies that want to locate. On the ballot in the State of Washington is the first hint of class warfare. There is a referendum that says we are now going to put an income tax in place for anybody that makes over $200,000/year. I can’t tell you how many head offices located in Spokane or immediately adjacent to the Idaho border that we’re getting inquiries now on space availability offices.” I have to confess that I was shocked by the $200,000 and over tax proposal in Washington. Is that liberal thinking that we should, in effect, punish those who are producing in the workplace?
