Ecology gets good ratings

Washington Ag Today December 30, 2010 Washington Department of Ecology permits set reasonable conditions, and agency staff give helpful and professional service. That's the message from a poll of industries, small businesses and farms that operate under Ecology environmental permits.

The U-S Department of Agriculture Agricultural Statistics Service surveyed more than 12-hundred permit holders or applicants including farmers.

More than 80 per cent said their permits had reasonable conditions and requirements. And, more than 90 per cent reported Ecology staff as helpful and professional.

Ecology commissions the confidential poll every two years. Summary results are available on the department’s website and a full report will be available at the end of January.

Now this from Stockland Livestock.

“This is Jack McQuiness here at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. A vacation here for us. We will be back in business on January 3rd with our first cattle sale of 2011. Markets very strong. Closed out last year with a very strong market, a good cow sale. Some of the best of the cows up at 14-hundred dollars. We sold some cow-calf pairs, big calves at side, big black cows, at 17-hundred-20 dollars so that was pretty much the top for the pairs. All the weigh cows and bulls two to three higher here last Monday and excellent demand for all weights and classes of feeder cattle. We sell cattle every Monday, Stockland Livestock here in Davenport. Thanks for listening and Happy New Year to all of our customers.

Thanks Jack.
