Regional Weekly Hay Report

Here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the Columbia Basin Hay report from last week.

Sanders: "We had 1,700 tons of hay trade. Compared to last Friday, all grades of export alfalfa was steady in a light test. Alfalfa on the mid square bales for fair quality for the export market sold for $110 per ton. Oat small square bales for export market fair quality sold at $80 per ton. And wheat straw mid square bales good quality delivered price was $65 per ton."

In Idaho compared to the previous week all grades of alfalfa steady in a light test. Trade remains slow with very light demand. Mid squares of alfalfa rated rated good to premium for export sold for $115 per ton. Mid-squares of alfalfa bottom bales rated fair to utility sold for $72 per ton.

In Oregon prices trended generally steady in a limited compared to previous week. In Central Oregon small squares of premium orchard grass sold for $240 per ton for the retail/stable market. In Lake County large squares of alfalfa/oat/wheat mix rated good sold for $120 per ton. Small squares of premium organic alfalfa sold for $250. In Eastern Oregon large squares of fair alfalfa sold for $105 per ton. Neither Klamath Basin nor Harney County had any new sales confirmed.
