Colorado SnowTel Report and NAFB Officer

Lindsay Burnet from the USDA office in Greeley shares last week's Colorado SnowTel Report.

Burnet: "USDA NRCS National Weather and Climate Center's Colorado SnowTel and snow pack comparison update report has the Gunnison River Basin index as 68 percent; the Upper Colorado River Basin index at 62 percent; the South Platte River Basin at 52 percent; the Laramie and North Platte River Basins at 77 percent; the Yampa and White River basins at 85 percent; the Arkansas River Basin at 52 percent and the San Miguel, Delores, Animas, and San Juan River Basins at 75 percent compared to 2015 snowpack levels. According to the U.S. drought monitor for the upcoming week, most areas East of the Rockies can expect precipitation amounts to be less than a half inch. Locally, heavy amounts of precipitation are predicted for the higher elevations of the Rockies."

In other state news, congratulations to my colleague and fellow ag broadcaster Lorrie Boyer for being elected to the National Association of Farm Broadcasting's Executive Team as the National Vice President.

Many of you may recognize Boyer's name and her voice as Fort Morgan KSIR's Morning Show Host and Farm Director. She has been a Colorado farm broadcaster for more than 20 years.
