Regional Weekly Hay Report

Here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the Columbia Basin Hay report from last week.

Sanders: "We had 1,900 tons of hay trade. Rain showers across trade area slowed movement. Retail and feed store hay was steady with feed stores were discounting bales over 85 pound by $10 per ton. Alfalfa mid-squares good and premium sold $125 for the export market. Small square bales of alfalfa premium quality for the export market sold for $180 per ton. Orchard grass small squares premium quality sold for $220 per ton for the retail stable market."

In Idaho compared the previous week trade remains slow with light demand Rain showers continue to hamper marketing progress. Mid squares of alfalfa rated premium, tarped sold for $130 per ton and mid-squares rated good for export sold for $115 per ton.

In Oregon, prices trended generally steady compared to the previous week. In Central Oregon large squares of premium alfalfa sold for $125 per ton. In Lake County large squares of alfalfa rated supreme sold for $225 per ton. In Klamath Basin mid squares of alfalfa rated fair sold for $110 per ton. In Harney County large squares of supreme alfalfa sold for $175 per ton. Eastern Oregon had no new sales confirmed.
