National Jr Angus Show Highlights Hardworking Juniors and Amazing Cattle

Last week the National Jr Angus Association held their national show in Grand Island, Nebraska. Angus youth and their families traveled hundreds, even though of miles to the show to participate in showing their cattle as well as 15 different educational contests. The National Jr Angus Show is the largest junior breed show in the nation. My unofficial field reporter — 12-year old Oregon Jr Angus member Seth Cox brought his heifer to the show. He lives near Eagle Point, Oregon. This was his fourth National Jr show at which he has shown.
Cox: “I brought one heifer here and showed her today. It went well I got third today.”
Cox says that he has made many friends over the years.
Cox: “I really enjoy the whole social interaction part of it. You get to meet a lot of new people and talk to a lot of new people from several states like: florida, Georgia, Alabama, Illinois. There is a social side of it that is pretty amazing.”
He continues with more of what is gained by participating in a national jr showCox: “You get to meet a lot of new people and really get out of your box and be social about it. Then there is also the showing side of it and it teaches you a lot of work and respect. You have to take care of your animals, wash them twice a day and really pay a lot attention towards your cattle.”
