. I am always so impressed the real-life preparation FFA provides. Washington State Vice President Monica Haugan from Pullman is yet another example. Our reporter KayDee covered the State FFA conference last week and caught up with Monica

Gilkey: Tell me a little bit about this past year and the experiences you gained.

Haugan: So throughout this past year I have been serving the association which has included a lot of things…including traveling and all over the state even the country to attend different leaders conventions and help members learn about FFA and agriculture and develop their leadership skills. It’s been a great experience just being able to meet so many of Washington State’s members and encourage them to pursue their passions;

Gilkey: Can you believe it’s already been a year, and it’s winding down. What kind of message are you giving students when you give your retirement address

Haugan: During my retirement address I am going to be talking about hope because something that has been really big for me. I traveled to Haiti the summer of 2014 so I talk about that experience and how that helped me have more hope, so that’s what I am going to be talking about.

Gilkey: Plans?

Haugan: I am going to work this summer and then I am going to down to Texas Tech to study Ag Communications.

Wow! Monica’s Yet another reason I’m impressed with the FFA
