New Pear Industry Website & The EPA Fight Continues

New Pear Industry Website & The EPA Fight Continues. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

Pear Bureau Northwest has introduced a redesigned trade website focused on "the business of pears." Providing pear category resources from crop information to training and marketing support, this mobile- and tablet-ready website provides a localized tool kit for growing pear category sales. Kevin Moffitt, Pear Bureau Northwest President and CEO said "Providing this data and actionable business building tactics with merchandising tools in a single location increases our ability to serve as a trusted resource for our retail partners."

The EPA's 'Waters of the U.S.' rule is not the only regulation congressional lawmakers will again try to roll back in the New Year. There's the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. The battle between farmers and the EPA over tougher regulations will continue in 2016 with FIFRA. American Farm Bureau's Dale Moore says that

MOORE: We've been fighting it in both the House and Senate Ag committees which have jurisdiction over the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, the pesticide laws. And our fundamental premise and more to the point, Congress' fundamental premise is that FIFRA, the pesticide law already requires that EPA ensure pesticide cause, quote/unquote, no unreasonable adverse effects to humans or the environment.

That's today's Northwest Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
