I called the Executive Dir. of the Idaho Cattle Association to inquire about a headline that said: “Federal Court Ruled Against Activist Groups, dismissing a request that would have required livestock producers to submit information about their operations to the EPA.  What does that mean? The rule would have required them to provide all sorts of information including contact, production area location, permitting status, number and types of animals, quantity of manure and waste water generated annually and it would have been made public to the general public. What this does by putting everybody's business online makes those operators very susceptible to litigation. I think that was a huge win in setting case law and kind of moving that pendulum back. When you look at the general permit here in Idaho, why we have zero of our feedlots filing that general permit is essentially that reason is because they want so much information and they want to send it out to everybody who wants to sue us and put us out of business. We have to peel that off of that part of the regulation. It's a huge victory for the entire industry.
