On a recent trip to the Commodity Classic in Phoenix, I ran into Mike Sato, an account manager with DuPont Pioneer. "The biggest thing is that Pioneer is expanding our BMR line up and what's nice about our products is they are agronomically sound. A lot of the competitive products out there are very digestible but they lack the agronomy characteristics that our hybrids have. What does agronomically sound mean? Historically if a farmer grew BMR, if there was heat stress, moisture stress, the term I would here is that the BMR is just melded. They wouldn't survive very well, they wouldn't yield. Hours have narrowed the gap a lot between regular hybrids and what BMR's will yield. I've got guys who are trying it, very excited about it because of the yield levels that we are bringing to the table. Our key customer is the dairy man. In some cases where the dairies are large and they don't have enough land to raise their own feed and we are their custom grower."
