Grains End Both Day and Week Lower on Friday
I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for February 2, 2015.Friday’s grain markets close brought lower prices across the board — both for the day as well as the week. USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders gives an update of last week’s regional cattle report.
Sanders: “This week in the Northwest we had 3200 head of feeder cattle trade. Compared to last Friday, feeder cattle were $10 to $15 lower. Trade remains slow with light to moderate demand. The CME feeder and live cattle contracts have once again expanded the limits to $6.75 on feeders and $4.50 on live cattle. Feeder steers medium to large frames #1s and #2s current delivered price 800 to 850 pounds $196 to $209 delivered into Idaho.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Friday down 5 and 3/4 cents at 5-06 and 3/4. May corn ended the day down 1 and 1/4 cents at 3-78 and 1/2.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to down 6 cents ranging between 6-31and 3/4 and 6-80. White club wheat of ordinary protein had no price comparisons. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 3 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-33 and 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 2 and 1/2 cents at mostly 8-21 and 3/4.
April live cattle were up $1.77 and half on Friday at 152-27 and half. April Feeder cattle were up $1.20 at 205-40. April class III milk was up a nickel at 15-50.
