This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

The latest figures from the National Ag Statistics Service show potato production in Idaho is forecast at 134 million cwt., down 2 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 316,000 acres, is unchanged from 2013. Potato production in Oregon is forecast at 22.8 million cwt., up 6 percent from the previous year. Harvested area, at 39,000 acres, is down 600 acres from 2013. Potato production in Washington is forecast at 100 million cwt., up 4 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 165,000 acres, is up 5,000 acres from 2013.

Snow is expected in the northwest this week and it just may finish up the apple crop. Cold temperatures have been moving in with overnight lows dipping into the teens in some areas. Snow could be showing up later tonight and tomorrow in some areas. Most of the apple harvest is complete but a couple of varieties are still being picked. Fuji apples can stand a bit of a freeze but Cripp's Pink apples may suffer.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network of the West.
