Is agriculture wearing a huge target on it’s back? Remember the movie called “Food Inc.” and now there is another disaster coming along called “Cowspiracy” which blames cattle ranchers for killing the planet. Here's a bit of good news, however. I reported on this back at the beginning of July. There is a movie called “Farmland” and believe it or not, it paints a very positive picture of agriculture. Here is The U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance CEO Randy Krotz: “That’s a real focus of ours as we go through the summer and into the fall, to make sure that Farmland is in venues where some other films that maybe don’t share quite as practical and realistic look of agriculture have been for several years. what we really hope for, is that as people walk away from this film, that they really want to learn more about food production. The subjects in the film have been absolutely wonderful. They’re actually covering a lot of venues, so we’re thrilled with what their participation has been and we’re just excited to have a tool like this that perhaps opens up the consumers’ hearts and minds about food production.” ISDA employee Chenal Tewalt, herself a rancher: “It is specifically in response to movies such as Food Inc. or oh am OMGGMO, in fact this is the first time we have had a movie of this caliber portray a positive and often untold story of what it takes to bring food to the table.” Farmland will be screened at the Egyptian Theatre in Boise, ID on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at 6 p.m.
