This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

The possible risk of listeria contamination has prompted the recall of some hummus products sold at Trader Joe's, Target and Giant Eagle. Texas health officials discovered the possible contamination but food manufacturer Lansal. The recall affects more than 14,800 pounds of hummus and dip products. Also consumers are being warned to not eat fresh sprouts produced in Idaho from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts after they were linked to an E.coli outbreak. Seven people in Washington and Idaho have gotten ill after eating the sprouts and health officials have asked Jimmy Johns and other restaurants to pull raw clover sprouts from this provider off their menus.?The House Ag Appropriations Subcommittee approved a measure to require USDA to grant waivers to schools whose meal programs have been losing money for six-months. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack has asked Organic Trade Association members to lobby against these changes - saying he has struggled with his own weight his entire life due to early eating habits. He says getting rid of the new school meal standards will signal to kids they have been relegated to doing it on their own.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
