Strong Pacific Northwest Cattle Prices

Strong Pacific Northwest Cattle Prices

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for March 10, 2014.

There were some strong livestock sales throughout the region last week. USDA Livestock and Grain Market News Reporter Greg Sanders shares more on the Northwest beef cattle price update.

Sander: “Feeder steers traded on the video this week were up to $156.50 weighing 850 to 875. It is a pretty good market still. Culler cows were up quite a bit again this week too because they sold them on a carcass basis at up to $180 and then live yesterday at the sale high dressing cows got all the way up to $103 so it’s been a pretty good market. Country trade was a little bit softer this week they only had 1700 head trade in the country as Lewiston had a big, special sale on Wednesday and Toppenish had close to 3,000 head and then they had 2100 head on their in-house video too.”

Chicago May Wheat ended Friday up 8 cents at 6-54. May corn ended the day down 2 cents at 4-89.
