McGregor Company Awarded Excellence in Ag Award

Tuesday at the opening session of the 2014 Pacific Northwest Farm Forum at the Spokane Ag Expo the McGregor Company was given the Business Award for Excellence in Agriculture. The McGregor Company is the Pacific Northwest’s largest independent fertilizer, agrochemical and equipment dealer. What started as a sideline of the family’s general store at the wheat and livestock ranch headquarters in Hooper, Washington, grew steadily as McGregor Company President Alex McGregor shares how the company got its start.McGregor: “In 1948 my father who was then a clerk at our ranch’s general store, was a pioneer in the fertilizer industry. Recognizing that nutrients had been depleted from these soils and knowing a researcher at Washington State College who had done a lot of work whose funding had been cut off. They pulled together and helped create an industry back in those days. In the basement of our ranch general store you can see the first soil lab in the region. So our business started as an outgrowth of that.”McGregor shares more about the company today.McGregor: “We’ve grown slowly and steadily over the years. Today we are in 44 communities with 320 year-round employees dedicated people committed to making a difference to farm families across the Inland Northwest. Agriculture is what we have a passion for.”
