7-17 IAN Government Lies

Before you vote, listen to Stan Boyd of the Idaho Wool Growers Association

We’re all familiar with the fact that there is a longtime dispute over how allotments in Hells Canyon with regard to domestic sheep are distributed.  Listen to a conversation I had with Stan Boyd of the Idaho Wool Growers Association: “It is really frustrating. You see that lawsuit was over a letter in 1997, we had been having a lot of trouble with the Bighorn. They threw Oliver Wence out of Hells Canyon. The government came in and basically, through eminent domain, took the private property. They paid him for it but nevertheless, he did not want to sell, they threw him out of Hells Canyon and condemned the private property. The next year Fish and Game wanted to come in and transplant bighorns in Hells Canyon. We threw a fit saying you are going to dump these bighorns who will immediately leave Hells Canyon and go on to a domestic sheep allotment and then you will close the allotment. Government said hey look if the wool growers will back off and not challenge this we will write you a letter holding you harmless. Like a bunch of fools, we trusted government. We backed off and they wrote a nice letter and 15 years later the Supreme Court rules in favor of government. It says it is okay for government to lie and cheat. Their word isn’t any good and in the private sector your word has to be good.
