4-30 SS Tradewinds Charters

 Deep-sea fishing for the entire family. I might’ve found the perfect opportunity for seasoned anglers and beginners alike.

 Tradewinds Charters located out of Depot Bay, Oregon has a fleet of 10 fishing boats that specialize in bottom fishing, family fishing, halibut, tuna and whale watching. They also can throw in a little crab fishing by dropping off crab pots for Dungeness crab on the way out to the fishing location. Sounds like a lot of fun. Those who throw pots out share the harvest on the way back. Here’s Noelie Achen  to tell us about an interesting observation as it relates to family fishing.“My family. 1st time going deep sea fishing. Don’t have a clue about what to do. I we in trouble? Do we have to be seasoned and experienced fishermen? Absolutely not. I do recommend that you start off with a bottom fishing trip though, especially with children, is just a good trip for beginners to learn how to fish out in the ocean.  And why would that be? 1st of all its light tackle and you don’t have to have a lot of experience getting fish on the boat. You can catch a variety of different fish and the fishing is always really good when you are bottom fishing. When you are going salmon fishing or tuna fishing, it’s heavier tackle and requires a little bit more skill, even though you don’t have to know everything because deck hands will show you how to use all the gear and tackle and help you along the way while you are on the deck. But especially with children, we do recommend a bottom fishing trip.
