Big Day In Washington State

Big Day In Washington State

Big Day In Washington State. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Line On Agriculture.

Today is a big day. There are three very important items being addressed by the Washington State Legislature. First, it’s the Washington State Department of Agricultures centennial. 100 years. That’s pretty big news. Second. It’s the fifth annual Beef Day which we talked about yesterday with with Jack Field from the Washington Cattleman’s Association. And then the one I’m proud of. Recognition by the state of the National Day of the Cowboy which is July 27th. Bethany Braley is the executive director of the effort.

BRALEY: Cowboys and cowgirls played a very significant role in helping us establish the American West - you know the work that they did, the ethics that they had, the kind of lifestyles that they lived. Out of that came all the other things, you know its part of the reason that they are so acknowledged the world over is because of their ethics and the contribution that they made.

Gratefully, Senator Sharon Brown returned my call when I sent her an email regarding her support for this resolution. She also carried to the House who have also signed it.

BROWN: I jumped on this because this is something that is important to me especially because of the importance that cowboys are to our district. And cowboys and cowgirls are a very integral part still today of our district and our agriculture and just our values and so it was important to me that we get this out there.

So hats off to the cowboy.

That’s today’s Line On Agriculture. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
