Wheat Market Finishes Down

Wheat Market Finishes Down

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for Jan 18, 2013. ?
KC and Chicago wheat traded lower on the day despite positive export demand numbers reported Thursday morning. Export sales were positive towards price direction but the US remains well behind the pace needed to reach this crop year's USDA export estimate. From the floor of the CME Group, Gary Kozlowski shares his observations of Thursday’s markets.??Kozlowski: “Let’s move into the wheat. One of the big concerns is the dryness that we’ve had this winter this far on the winter crop. Its really putting a scare in everyone in the markets. We’ve also had extremely light exports, the reason is U.S. prices are a lot higher than France and so on. So again we are not seeing a lot of export demand.”
Chicago March Wheat ended Thursday down 3 and 3/4 cents at 7-81 and 1/4. March corn ended the day down 6 and 3/4 cents at 7-24 and 1/2.
Portland prices for soft white wheat and club wheat were steady to down 3 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-63 and 1/4. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11.5 pct protein prices were down 5 and 1/2 cents at mostly 9-35. DNS wheat with 14 pct protein prices were down 2 and 1/4 cents at mostly 9-58 and 1/4.??February live cattle were down Thursday $1.92 and 1/2 at 126-60. March Feeder cattle were down $2.37 and 1/2 at 145-85. February class III milk was up a penny at 17-50.
