Washington milk production still rising

Washington Ag Today October 20, 2011 Dairy producers in Washington increased milk production during September 5.5 percent over September of last year. That’s what USDA’s latest Milk Production report shows. Nationally the increase was 1.9 percent.

Dairy cow numbers in the state were up 12-thousand head this September compared to September 2010 and output per cow was also up.

In a supply and demand report last week the USDA lowered its price projection for the 2011 all milk price from $20.10 a hundredweight to $20. The range for 2012 is now $17.75 to $18.65.
