Comment on water quality permit fees

Washington Ag Today August 2, 2011 The Washington Department of Ecology invites the public to weigh in through September first on a proposal to increase fees that are paid by some sectors of businesses, industries and local governments for water quality permit coverage. Among the permits affected are those for dairies and confined animal feeding operations.

Ecology uses the funding to process the permits and conduct inspections.

Now the Stockland Livestock report.

This is Jack McQuinness here at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. Coming off two sales in the last week. In a horse sale 83 head on the market. The canner horses up as high as 35 cents but still a lot of pressure on the market for these horses weighing a thousand pounds or less. Did sell nice gelding for 15-hundred on Saturday. Now Monday, cows and bulls, maybe a buck higher on the better yielding cows. We had a top on that at 75 cents, most of the trade in the high 60s and low 70s and call that steady. Bulls topped at 94 and again that market was fully steady. We sold a load of heifers weighing 968 pounds going out at a dollar-thirteen-fifty. Real nice black open heifers and those were yearlings. Good market. We will have cattle sales every Monday. We will always our feeders at 1:00. Don’t forget our next small animal sale is coming up on the 24th, a Tuesday. Thanks for listening.

Thanks Jack.
