Wildlife conservation funding deadline nears

Wildlife conservation funding deadline nears. I’m Bob Hoff. Washington Ag Today is next.

Washington Ag Today December 23, 2010 Washington landowners interested in developing or improving wildlife habitat have until January 7th of 2011 to apply for financial assistance through USDA’s Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program, or WHIP.

The program is administered by the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Washington Assistant State Conservationist Dave Brown says funds in Washington will be used on agricultural land and forest land where fish and wildlife habitat has been affected by past activities or management.

Previous WHIP activities in Washington have included shrub-steppe restoration, native prairie restoration and riparian restoration.

There is a continuous sign up for WHIP but those applications received by January 7th will be ranked and considered for 2011 funding.

Now the report from Stockland Livestock.

This is Jack McQuinness with Stockland Livestock here in Davenport. A big sale last week again. Mostly stock cows. Pairs that we advertised topped at 17-hundred dollars for some real nice young cows with 350 to 400 pound calves beside. Top on the bred heifers 1375. Bred cows about the same top. Some of these short term cows up as high as $900 so an excellent sale. Christmas time. Happy holidays to everyone in our trade area. We want to thank you for your business. We sure appreciate. We will be back in business with our next sale January 3rd. That’s Stockland Livestock here in Davenport.

Thanks Jack.

I’m Bob Hoff on Northwest Aginfo Net.
