Chile Part 2

Chile Part 2

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda. Today we are going to complete a two part series exploring the wines coming out of Chile. As we discussed yesterday, during the past two decades or so, Chile is experiencing somewhat of a revival of its wine industry. Its accelerated modernization has been nothing if not dramatic. Many famous European & American producers have invested in Chile clearly changing and updated the winemaking technology. The wines produced for export, especially the reds, have shown great promise and with time may even become age worthy. Maipo is probably the best known region for wine. It is home to many of the wine giants such as Cousino Macul, Concha y Toro and Santa Rita. It is a region that is as vast, and as varied, as the wines that come from it. Although Chile is perhaps the better known for wine exports from South America, Argentina actually produces a great deal more wine. About five times as much wine as Chile. The Argentine are the wines that interest me the most. So why not have a fun tasting and try some wines from South America, maybe compare the wines of Chile and Argentina to one another and then to California and Washington wines. Sounds like fun to me. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net - And thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
