Sportsmen Entrepreneur

If you are a sportsman and an entrepreneur, listen up. Good friend and regular contributor to the show Chris Claunch started an Idaho business called Hagerman Valley Sports and Mercantile. Thought I'd share his story given that some of you might be inspired to start something similar. "Tell me what went into your thinking to buy the store and how you have made it successful ? I get a five to couple of things that were occurring in Hagerman. Although it is a town of 661 people, it is one of the premier waterfowl destinations in the West. It also has excellent sport fishing across all fishing disciplines, from fly fishing to bass fishing to spin fishing to bring in the kids. It has four rivers, 17 lakes and ponds. In addition to that there are some duck hunting and waterfowl shooting clubs and by virtue of that combination, I knew that people from all over the West would be coming to the town. I have had the opportunity to serve them in many different ways without the price tag of having to establish a highly competitive business in a town like Boise or Twin Falls. How are things going? My original estimates on sales and foot traffic have grown to 2 to 3 times what I had originally anticipated.
