Wheat Markets End Week on High Note
I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for August 25, 2014.Grains were higher across the board Friday.Wheat had a bounce in prices due in part to on-going Ukraine tensions. USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders gives an update of last week’s cattle markets in the region.
Sanders: “Northwest direct cattle we had 2650 head traded this week. Feeder cattle were stayed to $20 higher with the most advances on the Holstein steers. 800 to 850 pound steers for current delivery $205 to $212.50. Calves 650 to 700 pounds $224 to $226 for October to November delivery. Holstein steers 350 at $250 at current FOB. Feeder heifers at 800 to 850 pounds $206 to $206.50.”
Chicago September Wheat ended Friday up 5 and 3/4 cents at 5-52. September corn ended the day up 3 and 1/4 cents at 3-65 and 1/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were up 2 to 5 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-96 and 1/2. White club wheat prices were steady to a half of a cent at mostly 8-52 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 11 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-31 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 21 to 31 cents at mostly 8-02 and 3/4.
October live cattle were up $1.45 on Friday at 147-even. September Feeder cattle were up $1.47 and half at 210-90. September class III milk was down a dime at 23-53.
