Wheat Market Remains Strong Friday on Ukraine News

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for March 17, 2014.

 On Friday the wheat market remains strong on news from Ukraine. The cattle market is also strong as USDA Livestock and Grain Market News Reporter Greg Sanders shares the Northwest beef cattle price update.

 Sanders: “They were quite a bit higher again this week. We had some six weights down in Oregon bring $205 for immediate delivery and the heifer brought $190. They are still contracting calves in Idaho and Oregon — 6-to-7weight calves — at $187 to $192. We had heifers at $178 to $183. Then some 9-weight steers were contracted in Oregon for August deliver at $168.”

 Chicago May Wheat ended Friday up 13 and 1/2 cents at 6-87and 1/4. May corn ended the day up a penny at 4-86.

 Portland prices for soft white wheat were steady up 13.50 at mostly 7-53 and 3/4. White club wheat prices were steady to up 13 and 1/2 cents at mostly 8-03 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 14 and 3/4 to 19 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-85 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 13 and 1/2 cents at 9-07.

April live cattle were up $1.62 and half Friday at 145-25. April Feeder cattle were up $1.30 at 177-22 and half. April class III milk was up 56 cents at 22-37.
