I've talked with all kinds of ag administrators as well as friends and consumers about a huge issue in terms of public perception. It's an issue that appears to be driving the ever-growing organic movement. Here to wax poetic is Animal Agriculture Alliance spokesperson Hannah Thompson: “One of those issues that has generated a lot of conversation over the last year and even beyond that is antibiotic use. There is a lot of concern among the general public about issues involving antibiotic resistance and the use of antibiotics in animal agriculture related to that and how can our industry be responsive to those issues and make sure that we are acknowledging consumer concerns. At the same time, we need to keep antibiotics available because they are an essential tool to animal health. The public and media narrative about animal agriculture and how we are using antibiotics in our industry and the changes that are going on and what the industry is doing proactively and the FDA guidance is going into place and how we can make sure that we are communicating all those great proactive efforts.
