I had a chat with Reece Andrews, FieldNET Business Manager for the Lindsay Corporation FieldNET Pivot Control: "In the world of controlling pivots, different manufacturers have their own proprietary system that works with their pivots. For example our FieldNET actually started and we just allowed directly into the serial port of our digital control panels that were on the irrigation systems. As long as it was with our panels we could have full control capabilities and monitoring capabilities. Most growers have a variety of pivots, just different pivots over the years because they last such a long period of time so you can have a big variety of pivots out there, some of them very old, plain and basic. So we asked, how can we retrofit old pivots? A few systems started cropping up where they were putting a controller on the end of the pivot but you had pretty limited features when you had a controller out there. You had two masters on that pivot. Issues would crop up. So we looked at that and said how can we make this easy for growers, get full premier control capabilities without the need to completely retrofit their irrigation systems. We wanted to put a whole new controller on there. We came up with this new product called Pivot Control. If you add the small panel that comes on its own, you can mounted next to the OEM panel that is there.
