A conversation about growing energy in Idaho. I’m David Sparks and that’s next. I had a conversation with Idaho Senior Energy Specialist John Crocket about growing energy the other day. It started with hemp. Just listen in. “It grows good in a lot of areas. It’s the kinda hemp that doesn’t get you high, the rope type hemp, so it makes all the common sense in the world to me. I don’t know how it grows in Idaho, maybe it grows good. We have oil seed crops that we could grow here in Idaho..we’re growing some of that but not very much of it. We’re struggling with bio-diesel. We just don’t have a market here. We sold 200,000 gallons last year. The bio-diesel plant in New Plymouth can make that in a week. Most of Idaho except Eastern Idaho, everybody has ethanol blended fuel now although unfortunately ethanol is not being made here in Idaho but that could change.
