Wine Grape Meeting

Wine Grape Meeting

Wine Grape Meeting. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

It’s that time again...meeting time and the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers kicks off their annual meeting and convention on February 7th in Kennewick. Vicky Scharlau, executive director for the association talks about the Tuesday sessions.

SCHARLAU: We have an absolutely jam-packed week of fun and frivolity for the wine grape growers annual meeting. And we again have sessions that start on Tuesday afternoon, we call them single sessions because the convention itself actually starts on Wednesday but we have some special topics that we’ve brought in for Tuesday afternoon.

The meeting and trade show will again be at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick.

SCHARLAU: The industry is going to be kicking off a new website that focuses on sustainable wine-making practices and a how-to session and more in-depth look at Winery-Wise will be Tuesday afternoon and people can register for those separately from having to register for the whole convention.

She says they are also targeting the tasting room staff.

SCHARLAU: Tuesday afternoon also has a specific session targeting tasting room staff so it’s all about being able to provide your customers a unique experience and be able to tell them what they need to know not only about your wines but about Washington State wines, why we’re unique, why we’re special, why we’re different.

More tomorrow.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
