California agriculture is getting a welcome boost, with new federal funding aimed at helping local growers reach more customers around the world.

On April 16, the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service announced its 2026 America First Trade Promotion Program funding. The goal is simple. Help American farmers and producers expand exports and stay competitive in a growing global market. This year, 55 nonprofit groups and cooperatives will share in the funding, including several right here in California. The Almond Board of California is set to receive 4 million dollars, the California Agricultural Export Council will get 550 thousand, and the Wine Institute will receive 6 million dollars.

Federal officials say this is just the beginning, with even more support expected in the coming years. As Under Secretary Luke Lindberg put it, “USDA’s market development programs have a proven record of delivering for our farmers, ranchers and producers.”
