Alfalfa is our topic of conversation as we get into our ag news today. On the program with us, Georgia Morris of Helena Agri-Enterprises. He and I chatted yesterday about the state of the market…

“Our markets pretty depressed and it’s been that way for a year now. It doesn’t look like it’s going to get better in the near future, so we’re just battling through it – making things work the best we can.”

He named exports and shifts in the dairy industry as a few of the factors. Under that storyline of making things work the best we can, George highlighted Troubadour as a good worm protection…

“And now, with the price being depressed, you can’t make mistakes. You have farmers that kind of cut back a little bit and then you have farms that say, hey, price is down, so I’ve got to produce the best quality and I’ve got to produce as much as a can. A product like Troubadour is real good, but Orbix is probably the one that I would lean on the most. And that’s a buffer, kind of nutrient product that we have.”

He says that’s a product they’ll be utilizing during leaf hopper sprays. With high heat stressing the alfalfa crop as is, he says adding this product will give you a double whammy, adding nutrients to the crop as you spray to take care of pests. For more information, head to HelenaAgri.com.
