We'd like to offer. Congratulations to Ron and Lori Nelson for receiving the Power County Farmer Appreciation Award. let's visit with Ron and Lori. Speaker2: I pretty much lived my whole life here in Rockland Valley as farmers with my dad and mom, and my grandparents actually homesteaded, did all of our schooling here in the Rockland School, a little small school, participated in all activities and sports. We raised five children here on the farm. Speaker3: I'm Lori, grew up in Dallas, Texas. Kind of opposite than living on a farm with very few people around. We've been married almost 50 years. We have wonderful children. Because of the farm, Ron was involved in going to all their ball games in. The three boys worked with him on the farm. The girls certainly learned a lot about economics and being hard workers and being resilient. Speaker2: When we started out, we did all flood irrigating and that didn't really work because it's so dry and hot in the summer. When my son Ryan came back to the farm to help, he brought some new ideas and some new enthusiasm, and the one thing he thought of was, we need to go pivot irrigation and sprinkler systems. Speaker1: Here's son Ryan growing up. Speaker4: On a farm, it's the best childhood I think anyone could ever have. I know mom would always throw us roughhouse boys in the tractor with dad when she got sick of us. Speaker1: Again, congratulations to the Nelsons, a wonderful Idaho farm family.
