I had an interesting chat with Nick Webster a southern Illinois bait maker, who talks about his experience making baits and fishing for bass and even bigger fish. I've had right at, I think, it's 8000 in sales or close to it. It starts out at $5.99 where your average everyday fisherman could buy one. And then it goes all the way out to 20 bucks, which is more for a musky. It's a bigger blade bait style. Muskie and northerns, a big swim bait behind it and crank it up and explode on it, pretty good stuff. It took me probably three months to get the box for just to send it off for patent. Reactive Innovations was the first one to say something about it and they wanted me to sell my idea and I told them no. Well,the Spider, it's a good looking bait and I added a little bit of weight to that bait because it's only a quarter ounce. It's kind of hard to throw if it got any wind at all. The spiders are on top of the water right now, facing a bunch of lily pads the other day. And I cast it out ahead and finished within 10 minutes. Just had it on one cast, 25 pound fluorocarbon. So that way I could rip it through theilypads. Fish came up and hit it. I set the hook.I know. And the rest was history.Hey, another question. Didn't you tell me that you had come from kind of a family of lure or bait makers? My grandpa had his bait company forever, but it's just local here in West Frankfurt, in southern Illinois area.
