East to West
One-way ticket to fly fishing paradise.
Flyfishing guide John McPherson started his fishing career back east and for whatever reason, decided to make a pilgrimage out West. That was a one-way ticket. “Got a job guiding in Yellowstone Park and haven’t looked back once. Came out from where? Upstate New York. Were you a fly fisherman up in New York? Yes. Tell me that piece. It’s alright. you don’t get to throw big fluffy dry flies like you do out here but the fishing is still good if you know where to go. The one main problem with East Coast fishing is that it is so overpopulated that it is hard to find really good places to fish where you are not being overwhelmed by numbers of people. When you get those high numbers of people they are just beating the rivers up and fishing kind of suffers because of that. The high numbers of people on the rivers makes a fishing go downhill just because the fish are seeing so much come pass them each and every day. I came out here and I was surrounded by blue ribbon trout streams in every direction 3 hours from Bozeman. It is pretty much the Mecca of North American fly fishing. It was the place I needed to relocate to. Left the East. Came out West. Not going back. Never ever.
