Brian Huskey who advocates very careful handling of fish if they are indeed intended to be caught and then released, is not saying to people that they must release their catch. To the contrary, he is very much in favor of the credo that one can harvest this precious resource and proudly take it home to the freezer. “Two important factors. We don’t at all discourage anglers who go out there intending to fill their cooler with fish to take home to the grill. That’s wonderful. Fantastic. That is what fishing is all about to begin with so we are not discouraging that in any way shape or form. Just trying to raise an awareness for those fish that for any number of reasons are put back in the water. Second of all, we are not trying to discourage folks from taking photographs of their fish either. Some circumstances of catching a fish are the highlights of a person’s life and some of their greatest most pleasure filled moments. The emotions and the smiles and the vibrations down the fingers, those real, visceral reactions are something we would never want to take away from anybody. Again we are just trying to educate people that, hey, if you’re going to take pictures of the fish, it can so easily be done in a way that the fish is going to survive as opposed to a lack of that awareness.
