Buck fever followed by some good luck.

Terry Hennighan is a guy with serious luck issues as in good luck. He is a longtime hunting and fishing enthusiast but once told me a story about his very 1st deer hunt where he was successful and now has a story about the very 1st time he went hunting with a bow.“Had some time one afternoon after work and decided to go to this little spot that was a natural funnel. I sat down and had a few hours before dark and one little doe walked by and then another little doe, then a small forked horn, it was 20 yards and I drew back my bow and fired. But I was very nervous and the arrow hit the ground and just skipped along in front of the deer then went between his legs and he took off and got a distance away and then just turned back and looked. So I got another arrow ready and sat and waited and all of a sudden this nice but started side hilling around and wouldn’t come down the trail because he knew something was up. He was about 40 yards away and I was more comfortable at 40 yards plus the nerves had left. I took the shot and it passed through right where it was supposed to go and the buck ran up and over the hill. It was getting close to dark so I ran up over the hill and found him on his side. He was done. He hadn’t gone 50 yards.
