Alaska, not for the faint of heart. Dawn Colias lived in Alaska for many years and has told me story after story involving hunting, fishing as well as close encounters that you might not particularly like. The last time we talked she was telling me about her husband, who was fishing on a river, when a huge brown bear started chasing him. He got away but he was quite shaken. I then asked her if her encounters with bears, moose werewolves ever resulted in injury. Her response? We never got mauled but I had an acquaintance that got killed. Her name was Marcy Trent. I had run a triathlon with her and she was a terrific runner. She lived in Anchorage. She was running with her son and grandson and Marcy was very good and she was ahead of them. They were running up in the foothills and they heard her scream. Her son told his son, who was eight I believe, to get up in a tree and stay there. Do not believe the tree. He then went up to help his mom and the bear killed them both. Some other hikers came along and the boy came down out of the tree and then they found the grandmother and father. A moose killed somebody up there. I mean, you just had to be really, really careful about that. There was a lot of that kind of stuff.
