Dry Weather Continues to Strain Markets

This is Matt Rice with today’s Market Line Report for Friday. Crop conditions brace for extended dryer weather which has put a strain on the market . Let’s go to Terry Roggensack with the CME Group to hear more.

Chicago Soft Red Winter Wheat prices for Sept. closed the day dn 18 ½, to finish at 692 ¼. Dec. Corn was dn 7 ¼, to close at 561 ¼. Kansas City Hard Red Winter Wheat prices for Sept. were dn 15, to settle at 653 ¾.

Portland prices for Club Wheat with 10 ½ % Protein were Unch, ranging from 8-00 to 8-50. Soft white wheat with Ordinary Protein for Sept. was Unch, ranging from 7-70 to 8-00. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11 ½ percent Protein for Sept. were dn 15, ranging from 7-63 ¾ to 7-88 ¾. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for Sept. were up 6 ¼, ranging from 10-04 to 10-19.

Live Cattle for Oct. were up $1.42 ½, closing at 126.67 ½. Aug Feeder cattle were up $1.42 ½, to finish the day at 158.20. Aug. Class III milk was up $.29, to settle at 16.39.
