In the past, I have talked a great deal about the synergy between farmers and ranchers and outdoorsmen. Never is that bond more apparent than the conservation rve program known as CRP land. I've done a lot of hunting and fishing on CRP land and now it looks like the feds are very interested in conservation efforts and expanding CRP.

Earth Day 2021 featured an international climate summit convened by President Joe Biden. At USDA, AG Secretary Tom Vilsack highlighted the agency's climate mitigation efforts. We recently announced the expansion of our CRP program, our conservation reserve program, looking forward to adding four million acres to that program. Those four million acres will allow us to essentially store three point six million metric tons of CO2 equivalent, prevent 90 million pounds of nitrogen entering into our waterways, and ensuring that 33 million tons of sediment and topsoil are preserved for productive agriculture. He also announced a significant investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in regional conservation partnership projects. In 45 states and over eight critical conservation areas, this resource will help to leverage and attract an additional 400 million dollars into these projects and the focus on drought relief, enhanced soil health and expansion of wildlife habitat.
