I joined the Marine Corps and ended up in Japan as my first duty station and I met my buddy Sean. We were buddies for about six months but he ended up going back to California early in 2006. Before he left we promised each other that someday we were going to go hunting together. I lost contact with him until about four months ago. Found his email and got hold of him and said hey, I got my elk tag and my license to hunt in Idaho. I said where are you at these days and he said in Boise. I said do you want to come with me and he didn’t even skip a beat and he said let me see how much vacation I can take and I will be up there. So he took the first five days of the season off with me and Friday was the opening day. We put a lot of miles on and hunted hard every day, all day, we saw four bears and lots of cows and one day we saw a lot of bulls but there were so many people. We Hunting and hunting and had not seen each other for a long time and the fifth day I had to take him home that night. We went out on our last hurrah and it was a foggy day. We got to the farthest point we were going to get and we turned around and were going to go up a couple of draws and work our way back. He had a GPS on his phone and we found an area that looked like it would be good and there was a lot of sign in there and we came around a point and he cow called for me and we could hear something below us about 50 yards. The brush was very thick and we couldn’t see through it that there was something there.
