Reopening Food Industry Creates Boost For Feeder Cattle

This is Matt Rice with today’s Market Line Report for Thursday. Feeder cattle rally yesterday for the 3rd day in a row, as demand picks up with the food industry getting back in the game. Let’s go to Virginia McGathey with the CME Group to hear more.

Chicago Soft Red Winter Wheat prices for May closed the day dn 10, to finish at 644 ¾. May Corn was up 2 to close at 553 ¼. Kansas City Hard Red Winter Wheat prices for May were dn 5 ¾, to settle at 576 ¼.

Portland prices for Ordinary Club Wheat were Unch, ranging from 7-40 to 8-00. Soft white wheat of Ordinary Protein for May was Unch, ranging from 7-20 to 7-65. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11 ½ percent Protein, for May were dn 5 ¾, ranging from 6-96 ¼ to 7-01 ¼. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for June were dn 2 ¾, ranging from 7-46 ¼ to 7-61 ¼.

Live Cattle for June were up $.25, closing at 120.30. May Feeder cattle were up $1.85, to finish the day at 147.32 ½. April Class III milk was dn $.09, at 16.62.
