Care to feed your hunting dog with a protein rich dietary supplement, something that'll give them energy and vitality? Stay tuned. I might have a surprise for you. Pulse crops are rich in important nutrients, including fiber, protein, folate, potassium and iron. Pulse crops are a viable and sustainable source of nutrients and protein in the pet food market, Chickpeas, lentils and dried peas have become popular ingredients in pet foods, especially grain free pet foods. I asked Jeff Van Pevenage CEO of Columbia Grain International, if pulse crops added to dog food would help a hunting dog.

Absolutely. You know, it helps promote shinier coats. It's really a very healthy alternative for pet food. So you get improved skin health. Your dog's energy level is better, improves your dog's breath, frankly, an easier food for dogs to digest. And it contains more protein than grain based dog food. So if your dog is a go get’m hunting dog, a work dog, that's what you want.

So look at the labels of your dog food. And if it has chickpeas, dried beans, lentils or dried peas, you're probably good to go or make that your dog is probably good to go.
