With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. Today is Day Two of the “Virtual” Auction of Washington Wines 2020.

The 33rd Annual version of the event has gone online, like so many things, thanks to the coronavirus.

The Auction’s Executive Director, Jaime Peha says the first four days are the silent auction, followed Saturday with the GALA Night, also virtual …

PEHA … “And virtual means that you actually tune in at a specific time and watch the show on the stage with our auctioneer, and then there’s live bidding and people watch it on their computer, or television if you have that hooked up, and they bid from their phones.”

So, Peha says there’s a lot of give and take between bidders and the auction …

PEHA … “So, it’s very interactive and you can see the activity happening and it’s actually a short time, because the actual live auction is about one hour, from 7:00 until 8:00 on August 15th, and the hour before is what we call the pre-show where there’ll be some featured speakers, we’ll have a little entertainment, but you can tune in at 6:00 and then the live bidding starts at 7:00.”

That, Peha says is all you really need to know …

PEHA … “And, it’s very easy to do. You just need to register on our site and then the information will be sent to you, and then you just tune in at that specific time and have fun watching the live bidding and, hopefully, raising your virtual paddle.”
