You got one. Boise police officer Tom Miotke is an avid hunter but had a first experience in hunting whitetail in Northern Idaho. “I came from California and I had just been involved in waterfowl hunting so coming to Idaho and being involved in big game hunting was a new thing for me. I immediately fell in love with it but I did not know anything about it. A friend of mine had learned how to whitetail hunting so he asked me to come and hunt on his 20 acres. And it was a hard snow that hit us and by the time we were out on the trail in the morning, we were in a good two feet of snow. So my friend set me up with an area down in this little ravine where we found a trail. I am used to mule deer hunting where you are on the move and you go from one ridge to another and spot and scope. But Whitetail was different for me. It was a lot of sitting so he coached me on how to sit in this area overlooking a ravine and he would be hunting probably a good 100 yards away. I had read through one of the magazines about rattling so I brought some old mule deer rattles with me. Having the kind of ADD that I have, sitting there in the snow, it is a lot easier said than done and I was so cold within about an hour I knew my time limit was coming up. After about an hour and a half to two hours it was time to go. I’m done. I got up and I walked down into this little ravine and I hear this loud boom. It was my partner shooting. So I yelled, “You got one.”

Not a traditional reaction and tomorrow we will find out if that was true or not
