Experienced elk archery hunter Bryan Huskey talks about a hunt.

“I'm sitting right now on five consecutive successful seasons of archery, elk and rifle, deer. This season was remarkable in the sense that I missed an incredibly huge bull early on in the season and on the last day of the season, I ended up harvesting my largest bull that I've ever taken. A very large, mature 6 X 6 herd bull. And it was just a spectacular series of encounters. I'd heard the bull bugling from a long ways away and I opted to sneak into the bull and hold off on calling. Typically, I'll do a lot of calling. And calling elk can be successful when everything is just right. But there are also times I've learned that I might just kind of sit and sneak in and maybe not announce my presence if I'm not feeling like the luck is on my side to call. And so that happened to be the case on this morning. And so I just crept into where the elk was at and I ended up getting into about 30 yards from this great big bull.”

Traditionally a perfect distance in archery. But there was a complication which will have to wait for until tomorrow. Stay on the edge of your seats.
