As the temperatures continue to warm up this summer, it's important that cattlemen and women keep a close eye on their cattle to make sure they're doing everything possible to keep them healthy and turning that feed into beef.

Mitch Anderson is President of Performix Nutrition Systems in Nampa, Idaho and says they work hand in hand with producers to improve cattle heath and profitability.

"You know, it's always important to have good fresh water nearby and the green, tall, lush forage right now has a lot of nutrients in it" said Anderson. "But as the summer heats up and it always does, and as those proteins in those grasses start to wean off, then that's the time to come in with some supplementation and just make sure that the gals have got good energy going in them and the right vitamins and nutrients. So, you know, we're a supplement company and that's what we do. We come alongside when Mother Nature starts to back off on the nutrients it provides and we try to supplement what that animal's going to need in any stage of its life, whether it's growing a calf or just production animal that is trying to put either milk the tank or put beef on the hook."
